1,500 Acres of Working Ranch. A Real Guanacaste Cowboy. Panoramic Pacific Views.
The Black Stallion Ranch sits in the hills above Tamarindo on 1,500 acres of working cattle land — a completely different world from the coast below. On this 1.5-hour guided ride, an authentic local cowboy leads the group through pristine jungle trails, open grasslands, and up to the mountain summit for 360° panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the rolling Guanacaste ranchlands that stretch in every direction.
The horses at Black Stallion are well-trained, calm, and suited to riders of all experience levels. Wildlife sightings along the route are common: howler monkeys, iguanas, tropical birds, and occasionally the ranch’s own horses grazing in the open fields. The cowboy guide shares the stories, traditions, and deep-rooted culture of Guanacaste ranch life as you ride.
After the ride, the Black Stallion base camp is open — a café, pool, and garden where guests can cool off and unwind before heading back. Choose between a morning departure at 9:00 AM or a sunset ride at 3:00 PM.
