Bertram 31 FT — Inshore & Deep Sea Fishing

The Bertram 31 is a classic sportfishing vessel operating out of Tamarindo — a private charter for up to 6 passengers with an experienced bilingual captain and mate who know these waters. Two distinct fishing experiences are available depending on what you’re after.

Inshore fishing stays within approximately 200 feet of depth, working the reef structure and nearshore grounds in calm, accessible conditions. Target species include snapper, grouper, roosterfish, and jacks. The pace is relaxed, the water is close to shore, and the experience is ideal for families, first-timers, and guests who want productive fishing without venturing far offshore. Beginners receive hands-on guidance from the captain and mate throughout.

Offshore fishing ventures 15 to 25 miles out into open Pacific water, where the conditions change and the fish get bigger. The crew uses a mix of trolling, popping, jigging, and live bait techniques depending on current conditions and the target species. Wahoo, mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, sailfish, and blue and striped marlin are all realistic targets in season. The charter is rigged for the conditions — you just need to be ready to fish.

Both trip types are fully private and catch-and-release. They run on the same pricing schedule. Departure is at 7:00 AM from Tamarindo. Best season is December through May, but the Bertram 31 operates year-round.
