Surf Lessons — Tamarindo

Tamarindo’s waves are perfectly suited for learning — consistent, friendly breaks that have been producing confident surfers for decades. Whether this is your first time on a board or your fifth attempt at standing up, the instruction is calibrated entirely to your level and comfort.

Private lessons give you 90 minutes of one-on-one time with a certified local instructor — more waves, more personalized feedback, and more confidence built in a single session. Group lessons pair you with a small class of up to four students with a single instructor, keeping the experience personal while adding the social energy of learning alongside others. Either way: the session starts on the beach with a full breakdown of paddling technique, how to pop up, stance, wave reading, and safety. Then you move into the water with your instructor in it beside you the entire time.

Surfboard and rash guard are included. The surf shop provides lockers, bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms — arrive 15 minutes before your session time to get set up. Four departure times available seven days a week. Children 12 and under must book a private lesson.

Departure: 8:00 AM / 10:00 AM / 1:00 PM / 3:00 PM — arrive 15 minutes early at the surf shop

Private Lesson: $132 per person (taxes included)

Group Lesson: $82 per person (taxes included) — maximum 4 students per instructor
